In-Ear Monitoring
Horn provides professional In-Ear Monitoring (IEM) capabilities that mirror real-world production environments. This feature allows hosts to communicate privately with individual participants or groups during a live session, similar to how production crews communicate in a live broadcast/studio environment.
Introduction
The In-Ear Monitoring system enables hosts to:
Send private audio messages to specific participants
Communicate with groups of users - All presenters, All attendees in a room
Provide real-time direction without interrupting the main broadcast
Maintain professional production flow during live sessions
Using IEM
The IEM controls are integrated into interface in the participants section. Each user has an “ear” icon that can be used to send a private message to that user.

On the above screenshot, each icon type represents a different action:
1: Speak to all participants in the room
2: Speak to all presenters
3: Speak to a specific user
4: Speak to all audience members in the room
While host is holding the “ear” icon, the other participants will see a visual notification about the incoming message and the background audio will be automatically reduced.

Audio Ducking
When an IEM message is being delivered:
Room audio volume automatically reduces
IEM communication plays at full volume
Ensures clear communication while maintaining context
Room audio smoothly returns to normal when IEM ends
Note
The ducking level can be customized based on your specific needs. Contact us to adjust these settings for your implementation.
MIDI Shortcut Integration
Group actions (talking to all participants, presenters, or audience members) can be assigned MIDI shortcuts for easier access during live sessions. See MIDI Integration for more details.
